The two malicious phishing ads appeared at the top most position of the search results on ‘Bing’ for a query about ‘blockchain’. One of the ads prompted the user to click on it while the other claimed that the other ads are false and took the user to a phishing site.
The whole phishing trap got unveiled when the experts found the mistake that a non-existent domain name was being used in the second ad. TLD or the top-level domain named .info (LNFO) was being used that sparked the confusion. It was reported that the there are other search engines such as DuckDuckGo and Yahoo that are becoming the platforms for such phishing ads.
