Correio Braziliense, a news outlet published an image showing Luiz Cravo Dorea, head of international co-operation, Federal Police observing the videos on the surveillance cameras at the security centre. The image was retweeted more than 3,000 times.
The security personnel usually view the live video feeds around the world stadiums from different cameras but it turned out to be dangerous for them. This time it ended up in exposing the secret FIFA World Cup event’s security password as well as the Wi-Fi SSID written clearly on the big screen. It was written as –
Wi-Fi Network: Worldcup
This password when decoded could be ‘brazil2014’. There could be many more guesses to this which the hackers would be busy doing as they would not want to miss out on this opportunity to launch a fatal cyber-attack using this crucial information.
But thanks to media that had played its role in alerting the security personnel who would have changed the important password as well as the Wi-Fi SSID by now. This would have saved themselves and many more people involved from becoming a victim of the cyber accident.
